Part of my Japanese Design Principles/LIT Series self-challenge
This is about exploring negative space as an aesthetic interpretation of the Japanese design principle Yugen: to suggest and not reveal layers of meaning hidden within – invisible to the casual eye.
This quote is actually quite cynical, if you happen to know the context. It’s a hidden meaning for those who know, and simply very lovely and romantic for those who don’t.
