Part of my Japanese Design Principles/LIT Series self-challenge

This is about exploring negative space as an aesthetic interpretation of the Japanese design principle Yugen: to suggest and not reveal layers of meaning hidden within – invisible to the casual eye.

This quote is actually quite cynical within the context of the novel. There’s a hidden meaning for those familiar with it, and simply a lovely and romantic one for those who aren’t.
